Philosophy

Many Charities raise money to help people with specific conditions such as cerebral palsy. Money raised is used to help meet needs which are not funded from public sources such as equipment and costs involved in the care of a child or adults with disabilities. Miss Castang recognised all this but felt that her brother Max did not have the quality of life he would have wished because of his cerebral palsy.

Many causes of disability such as poliomyelitis can now be prevented. Some genetic causes of neurodisability can also be prevented by genetic counselling but may still occur in families with no known history of the condition. Around 10 children in 1000 are still born with some sort of disability. The Castang Foundation would like every child to have the best possible start in life and an environment that encourages healthy growth and development.
